For 14 years (since 2002) Dr. Kaufman served as Editor of Bread Broken. He passed away peacefully on April 23, 2016.
Kenneth was born in Springfield, Illinois on September 21, 1932 to Urban and Marguerite Kaufman. He married Alice "Billie" Roberts in 1953 and they were blessed with 62 years of marriage until her death in August 2015.
Kenneth graduated from Springfield's Cathedral High School in 1950 and after serving as a naval Airmen, pursued an education that culminated with earning his doctorate at Loyola University Chicago in 1985. He dedicated his life to serving kids as a teacher, coach, administrator, and University professor. He was a lifelong Cubs, Bulls and Bears fan, and had a quick wit and an infectious dry sense of humor His hobbies included gardening, reading, and annual fishing trips to Canada. He had an unending love for his family and lived in the Catholic Tradition.
Bread Broken Magazine is published twice a year by the Sisters of Christian Charity - Wilmette, IL. The publication aims to be a source of information for the Sisters, their families, friends and benefactors on the presence and ministry of the Sisters of Christian Charity.
