June 3, 2017 will be the 200th birthday of Blessed Pauline von Mallinckrodt, foundress of the Sisters of Christian Charity.

In New Orleans, on May 12, a special Mass in honor of Blessed Pauline was held in St. Henry Church. (St. Henry's was the first SCC mission in the USA.) Seven priests concelebrated the Mass. Many friends and relatives of the Sisters were in attendance. After the conclusion of the Mass a reception was held ... and the cake (at left) was enjoyed, along with joyful conversation.

Jubilarians at Sacred Heart Convent Celebrate
On May 21 the SCCs of the Chicago-area convents gathered at Sacred Heart Convent to join in the celebration of milestones in religious life. Four Sisters - S. Consuela, S. Carolyn, S. Henrica and S. Caroline - celebrated their jubilee. The day began with Mass in the convent chapel and, after meals, gift opening and Vespers, concluded with a special prayer to Our Lady.

On April 30th the SCCs living in New Orleans celebrated Sr. Monica's 40th anniversary as a Sister of Christian Charity. After Mass at St. Rita Church, there was a big reception in the school cafeteria. The SCCs joined priests and religious from many other congregations in the celebration of religous jubilees.

On April 15 - Holy Saturday - the "Blessing of Baskets" took place at St. Joseph Church in Wilmette. As Fr. Dan Mayall was blessing the baskets he noticed a lamb-shaped cake. He asked the person who made the cake to come forward and show the cake to the congregation.
